Given a finite group \(X\) and a subgroup \(G\), one may choose a set \(M\) of representatives of left cosets \(G\) in \(X\), and from this data the second named author constructed a non-trivially associated tensor category \(\mathcal C\) and a braided category \(\mathcal D\) which is the category of representations of an braided Hopf algebra \(D\). The paper under review is concentrated on the study of categorical properties of this category. The authors show that the category \(\mathcal D\) has a modular structure and is a ribbon category. Moreover, the authors discuss the trace for the category \(\mathcal D\) and define the character for each object in \(\mathcal D\) by standard diagrams. In this way, they show that the character of a tensor product of two representations is the product of the characters, a result similar to that in representation theory of groups. A nice description of the category \(\mathcal D\) is given by showing that the category \(\mathcal D\) is equivalent to the trivially associated category of representations of the quantun double \(D(X)\). A detailed example is supplied in order to illustrate the whole procedure of making non-trivial associated modular categories from finite groups. To get a better understanding of the paper, it could be helpful to look first at the relevant papers listed in the references.
