    This paper deals with the study of a special Banach algebra of operators. The author gives some properties of the Banach algebra of bounded linear operators \( {\mathcal B} ( \ell_p (\alpha) )\) for \(1\leq p \leq \infty \), where \(l_p (\alpha) \overset{\text{def}}{=} (\frac{1}{\alpha})^{-1} * \ell_p\) is a weighted \(\ell_p\)-space of sequences, namely \[ \ell_p (\alpha) = \left\{ X\in s : \sum_{n=1} ^{ \infty} \left(\frac {| x_n| }{\alpha_n}\right)^p < \infty \right\}, \] where \(\alpha= (\alpha_n)_{n\geq 1} \in U^{+*}, p\geq 1\) and \(U^{+*} = \{ X= (x_n)_{n\geq 1} \in s : x_n > 0 \;\forall{n}\}. \) Let us denote by \(D_{\alpha}\) the diagonal matrix \(D_{\alpha} = (\alpha_n \delta_{nm} )_{n,m\geq 1}\) where \(\delta_{nm} = 0\) for all \(n\neq m\) and \(\delta_{nm} = 1\) otherwise. In terms of this diagonal operator \(D_{\alpha}\), the author obtains complete characterizations of the Banach algebra \( {\mathcal B} ( \ell_p (\alpha) )\) (see formula (3.12), theorem 4.2 and corollary 4.3.) In section 5, the author gives some interesting applications to infinite tridiagonal systems and to continued fractions.
