Coisotropic variational problems (Q1781420)

Constrained variational problems of 1 independent variable defined on the space of integral curves of a Frenet system in a homogeneous space \(G/H\) are considered. By adopting Griffiths' construction of Euler-Lagrange system and momentum space, using the reduction theory of Hamiltonian systems with symmetries and some concrete geometric description of the Marsden-Weinstein reduction, it is proven that if the Lagragian is \(G\)-invariant and coisotropic, then the problem is integrable by quadratures.
