In fact, the following infinite system of ODEs is considered \[ i{\dot q}_n(t)+{\Delta q}_n(t)-\chi | q_n(t)| ^{2(p-1)}q_n(t)=0, \] where \(p\geq 2\) is an integer, \(\chi=\pm 1\), and \(\Delta q_n=q_{n-1}+q_{n+1}-2q_n\). It is assumed that the Cauchy-condition of the form \(q_n(0)=a_n\) is satisfied with \[ \sum_{m=-\infty}^\infty(1+m^2)^d| a_m| ^2<\infty. \] The following question is asked: does there exist a ``bounded'' solution in some interval \([0,T],\;\;T>0\)? The answer is affirmative, even to a stronger question: namely the ``bounded'' solution does exist for any \(T>0\) and is unique. In order to prove the existence and uniquness theorem, the family of Banach-Spaces \(X^d(T)\) of the elements of the following form \(q=\{\dots,q_{n-1}(t),q_n(t),q_{n+1}(t),\dots\}\), with corresponding norms \[ \| q\| _{X^d}^2=\sup_{0\leq t<T}[\sum_{n=-\infty}^\infty(1+n^2)| q_n(t)| ^2] \] is defined, and the system in question is investigated in this environment. Methods used for the proof: Green's function, Gronwall inequality and the Banach fixed-point theorem for the local result; then the technique of extension is applied. Two generalizations are considered: addition of dissipative term and long range interactions: i.e., the more general system of ODEs is considered \[ i\dot q_n(t)+\sum_{m=-\infty}^\infty K(n-m)q_m(t)-\chi| q_n(t)| ^{2(p-1)}q_n(t)=0 \] with \(K(n)=K(-n)\), real, rapidly decaying: \(\sum_{-\infty}^\infty | K(m)| <\infty\). In this case, the proof of the existence-uniqueness theorem needs some modification, but its general concept remains unchanged.
