The spectral Lie operad is an operad in spectra, whose homology is closely related to the classical Lie operad. It was first discovered by \textit{Michael Ching} in the guise of Goodwillie derivatives of the identity functor [Geom. Topol. 9, 833--933 (2005; Zbl 1153.55006)]. The spectral Lie operad is of considerable interest because of its connections to homotopy theory and to derived algebraic geometry. The main result of this paper describes the homology of the free spectral Lie algebra generated by a spectrum \(X\), as a functor of the homology of \(X\). Here homology is taken with mod \(p\) coefficients for an odd prime \(p\). The case \(p=2\) was done by \textit{Omar AntolĂn Camarena} in his PhD thesis (Harvard, 2015), cf. [``The mod 2 homology of free spectral Lie algebras'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:1611.08771}].
