Let $A$ be an abelian variety defined over $\mathbb{Q}$. The generalized Sato-Tate conjecture predicts that the Haar mesure on a certain compact group $ST(A)$ governs the distribution of the normalized Euler factors $L_p(A,T/\sqrt{p})$ as $p$ varies over the primes of good reduction of $A$ (see for instance [\textit{F. Fité} et al., Compos. Math. 148, No. 5, 1390--1442 (2012; Zbl 1269.11094)]). \par The dimension $1$ case is the classical Sato-Tate conjecture, no a theorem (see [\textit{J.-P. Serre}, Lectures on $N_X(p)$. Boca Raton, FL: CRC Press (2012; Zbl 1238.11001)], Ex.8.1.5.2 for a complete list of references). For dimension $2$, there is a conjectural list of $52$ Sato-Tate groups that can and do arise for abelian surfaces (see [\textit{F. Fité} et al., Compos. Math. 148, No. 5, 1390--1442 (2012; Zbl 1269.11094)]). For dimension $3$, there are few sporadic cases [\textit{F. Fité} and \textit{A. V. Sutherland}, Contemp. Math. 663, 103--126 (2016; Zbl 1411.11090)] and [\textit{L. García}, ``Sato-Tate distributions of twists of the Fermat and the Klein quartics'', Res. Math. Sci. 5, Paper No. 41 (2018)]. \par Building on similar methods, the authors of the present paper prove the generalized Sato-Tate conjecture for the twists of the Jacobian of the hyperelliptic genus $3$ curve $y^2=x^8-14x^4+1$. They take advantage of the decomposition of the Jacobian up to isogeny as a product of $3$ elliptic curves (without CM) to show that the twists corresponds to $9$ Sato-Tate groups and then to check the equality between the distributions of traces of the reduction of the twists modulo $p$ and the Haar measure on each group.
