The author introduces and studies ``nearly'' properties of commutative integral domains. For example, a domain \(D\) is \textit{nearly} GCD, if for each nonzero finitely generated ideal \(I\) of \(D\), there exists a positive integer \(n\) such that the ideal \(I_n\) (the ideal generated by the \(n\)th powers of the elements in \(I\)) is principal. A domain \(D\) is \textit{nearly Krull} if for each nonzero ideal \(I\) of \(D\), there exists a positive integer \(n\) such that \((I_n )_ t \) is \(t\)-invertible. The author investigates the connections between various properties of domains, especially, the ``nearly'' properties. For example, the nearly UFD domains (respectively, the nearly \(\pi\)-domain) are exactly the nearly Krull domaisn with torsion \(t\)-class group (respectively, with torsion local \(t\)-class group). The nearly GCD domains (respectively, the nearly GGCD domains) are exactkt the nearly P\(v\)MD-domains with torsion \(t\)-class group (respectively, with torsion local \(t\)-class group). If the domain \(D\) contains a field of zero characteristic, then a nearly P\(v\)MD is a P\(v\)MD, and a nearly Krull domain is Krull. The ``nearly' property implies the ``almost'' property for the P\(v\)MD, GCD and GGCD properties, that is, a nearly GCD domain is almost GCD, etc. A root closed nearly Krull domain is Krull. The author studies in this context domains of the form \(F+XL[X]\), where \(F\subseteq L\) is a field extension.
