    The Riemann problem for the one-dimensional nonstrictly hyperbolic system of conservation laws \[ \begin{aligned} u_t + (\varphi(r) u)_x & = 0, \\ v_t + (\varphi(r) v)_x & = 0 \end{aligned} \] with \(r = au + bv\) can contain delta shock waves. In the present article, self similar solutions to a vanishing viscosity approximation of the form \[ \begin{aligned} u_t + (\varphi(r) u)_x & = 0, \\ v_t + (\varphi(r) v)_x & = \varepsilon t \left(\frac{a}{b} u_{xx}+ v_{xx}\right). \end{aligned} \] are studied. In particular it is shown that the hyperbolic-parabolic system possesses a unique weak self-similar solution \((u^\varepsilon(\xi),v^\varepsilon(\xi))\) with \(\xi=x/t\), which for \(\varepsilon\to 0\) converges in the weak star sense to a solution of the hyperbolic Riemann problem containing a delta shock wave.
