The authors study the interpolation properties by the linear combination of ridge functions of the form \(f(\widehat {a}\cdot \widehat {x})\) where \(f: \mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}\); \(\overline{x}= (x_ 1,x_ 2,\dots,x_ d)\in\mathbb{R}^ d\); \(\widehat {a}\in \mathbb{R}^ d\setminus \{\widehat {0}\}\) and \(\widehat {a}\cdot \widehat{x}= \sum_{i=1}^ d a_ i x_ i\) with fixed directions. The authors characterize the solvability of the interpolation problem by geometric properties. For further reference the research paper due to \textit{N. Dyn}, \textit{W. A. Light} and \textit{E. W. Cheney} [ibid. 59, 202-223 (1989; Zbl 0678.41001)] may be consulted.
