For an \(R\)-module \(M\) over a (commutative) ring \(R\), \(\text{alglat}M\) is defined to be the subring of the endomorphism ring of \(M\) consisting of those endomorphisms \(f\) for which \(f(m)\in Rm\) for all \(m\in M\). If \(\text{alglat}M\) simply consists of all the scalar multiplications of \(M\) by elements of \(R\) then \(M\) is said to be reflexive. A ring is said to be fractionally self-injective (FSI) if the classical ring of quotients of each of its factor rings is self-injective. Using the structure of FSI rings given by \textit{P. Vámos} [J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 16, 209- 220 (1977; Zbl 0404.13012)], the author determines \(\text{alglat}M\) for all modules \(M\) over these rings. The following is an appetizer from her results: If \(M\) is a module over an almost maximal valuation ring \(R\) (one of the three types of indecomposable FSI rings) then either (i) \(M\) is reflexive or (ii) \(R\) is not maximal (and so \(R\) is a domain), \(M\) is faithful but torsion (i.e. each element of \(M\) has nonzero annihilator) and \(\text{alglat}M\simeq\widetilde R\), where \(\widetilde R\) is the completion of \(R\) in the topology determined by the nonzero principal ideals of \(R\).
