The author considers the equations governing stationary drift-diffusion semiconductors. He uses nonconforming finite elements to produce symmetric and positive definite systems of algebraic equations, and produces error estimates for the approximation. The method is applied to both rectangular elements. The results of the application of the method to a particular system are given in graphical form.
