The authors introduce the finite integral transform method, interpreting it as a powerful general purpose numerical procedure. While noting that the technique can be applied to many other models, they limit their development to a class of heat diffusion problems. Using the new approach, they transform the nonlinear partial differential equations model directly to a coupled system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations that can then be solved numerically, and they illustrate their method by applying it to three specific examples.
