    For \(N\in\mathbb N\) and \(0<\alpha_ 1<\beta_ 1<\alpha_ 2<\beta_ 2<1\) let \(F_ N=\{a/b\); \(1\leq a\leq b\leq N\), \((a,b)=1\), \(a\) and \(b\) are integers\} and \(S_ N=\{a/b\in F_ N\); \(\alpha_ 1 N<a<\beta_ 1 N<\alpha_ 2 N<b<\beta_ 2 N\}\). For \(a/b\) in \(F_ N\) let \(x_ 0\leq b\) and \(x_ 1\leq b\) minimal such that \(| ax_ 0-by_ 0|=1\) and \(ax_ 1-by_ 1=1\) for some integers \(y_ 1\) and \(y_ 0\). The distribution of \(x_ 0/b\) and \(x_ 1/b\) for \(a/b\in F_ N\) or \(a/b\in S_ N\) is studied. For example it is shown: For any \(y\) in \(0\leq y\leq 1\) we have \[ \Biggl| {{\#\{a/b\in S_ N; 0<x_ 1/b<y\}} \over {\# S_ N}}- y\Biggr| \ll N^{-{1/2}+\varepsilon} \] for any \(\varepsilon>0\).
