This paper considers multigrid software for engineers implemented on an Apple Macintosh computer. The multigrid finite element software uses several automatic mesh generators starting from the nodes on the boundary. It is possible to use a logarithmic scale to determine the nodes in the neighbourhood of rapid variation of the unknown. The shapes are visualized in space with hidden surfaces removed. The user input provides menus and mouse action to make the program user friendly. The program is presently useful only for a limited set of physical situations, since it only treats problems with plane elasticity and with axisymmetric deformations and constraints. However, it is extended to include nonlinear problems as well as fluid flows which yield stress. The paper includes a variety of diagrams and figures which show valuable details of the algorithms implemented in this software.
