The powers of an ideal form a fundamental system of neighbourhoods of 0 for a linear topology on a commutative ring. By using the induced tensor product topology the topological version of Hochschild homology and cyclic homology allows one to calculate the relative algebraic de Rham cohomology of a morphism of affine \(\mathbb{Q}\)-schemes of finite type in the sense of \textit{R. Hartshorne} [Publ. Math., Inst. Hautes Étud. Sci. 45, 5-99 (1975; Zbl 0326.14004)].
