    Let \(X=[x_{nk}]\), \(x_{nk}\in [a,b]\), \(n=1,2,\dots\); \(k=1,2,\dots,n\), \(x_{nk}\neq x_{nh}\), for \(k\neq h\), \(n\geq 2\), an infinite triangular matrix of nodes lying in the interval \([a,b]\). For \(p,q\)-non-negative integers and \(\rho>0\), let \[ v_{nkpq}:=1+\Bigl[p/(b-x_{nk})- q/(x_{nk}-a)-\omega_ n{''}(x_{nk})/\omega_ n'(x_{nk} )\Bigr](x- x_{nk}). \] The matrix \(X\) is called \((p,q)\)-\(\rho\)-normal if \(v_{nkpq}(x)\geq\rho\), for all \(n\), \(k\), \(n\in N^ +\), \(1\leq k\leq n\), and \(x\in[a,b]\). The author proves that there exists a unique \((p,q)\)-1- normal matrix with nodes in \([-1,1]\), namely the matrix corresponding to the roots of the Jacobi polynomials with parameters \(\alpha=p-1\), \(\beta=q-1\). Since \(v_{nkpq}(x_{nk})=1\), it follows that \(\rho=1\) is a limit case for a \((p,q)\)-\(\rho\)-normal matrix.
