Relative asymptotics for orthogonal polynomials with a Sobolev inner product (Q1804007)

Sequences of polynomials are investigated that are orthogonal with respect to a Sobolev type inner product \(\langle f,g\rangle:=(f,g)+\lambda f'(c)g'(c)\), where \((f,g)\) is an ordinary inner product in \(L_ 2(\mu)\) with \(\mu\) a positive measure on the real line. The Sobolev orthogonal polynomials are compared with the polynomials orthogonal with respect to \(\mu\), and the five-term recurrence relation for the Sobolev orthogonal polynomials is investigated.
