This paper partly answers the question of the continuity of the directional entropy introduced by \textit{J. Milnor} [NATO ASI Ser. F 20, 113-115 (1986; M.R. 87j:58053)] in cellular automata. The directional entropy is proved here to be upper semi-continuous in the case of an ergodic dynamical system of finite entropy on which acts a measure preserving invertible map generated by a block map (i.e., a finite code) by generalizing a result of \textit{Ya. G. Sinaj} [Comment. Math. Helv. 60, 173-178 (1985; Zbl 0594.28023)], who expressed the directional entropy in a rational direction of an integral. Let us note that the question of the continuity of the directional entropy is still open, even in the case of cellular automata. The author mentions some examples and counter-examples in this direction.
