The author shows that (i) a two-dimensional boundary value problem of homogeneous isotropic elastostatics for a sectorial domain can be reduced to the equation of the Hamilton type: \(\dot W= HW\), where \(W\) is a state vector in \(E^4\) made of two displacement components and two stress components in polar coordinates \((r,\theta)\), \(H\) is a \(4\times 4\) matrix operator with respect to \(\theta\), and the superimposed dot stands for the derivative with respect to \(s=\ln r\); (ii) the Hamilton equation can be solved via an eigenexpansion method for particular sectorial domains. Also, the author claims that the method may be useful for the application of the sectorial finite elements in computational mechanics.
