For arbitrary loading in the surrounding matrix of the inclusion with uniform eigenstrains, the general solution is obtained by means of conformal mapping and series expansions of associated complex potentials. The results are expressed in both transformed and original planes, independently of particular loading or geometry of matrix. A uniform loading is assumed at infinity, and the case of screw dislocations is also considered. The results obtained complete the solutions given by L. H. Donnell, N. J. Hardman and J. D. Eshelby (but in a more explicite and versatile way) or by J. Dundurs and G. P. Sendeckyi (for screw distortions). The methodology can be extended to corresponding plane problems of anisotropic elasticity and thermoelasticity.
