    Let \((X,d)\) be a complete metric space and \(CB(X)\) be the family of all closed bounded subsets of \(X\) with the Hausdorff metric \(H\) induced by \(d\). Let \(f : X \to X\) be a single-valued map of \(X\) and \(T : X \to CB(X)\) be a set-valued map such that \(fTx \in CB(X)\) for all \(x \in X\) and, if the indicated limits exist, \[ \sup \bigl \{\lim_ n H(fTx_ n,T fx_ n), \lim_ n d(fx_ n, fTx_ n) \bigr \} \leq \lim_ n H(Tfx_ n, Tx_ n) \] whenever \(\{x_ n\}\) is a sequence in \(X\) such that \(Tx_ n \to M \in CB (X)\) (in the metric \(H)\) and \(fx_ n \to t \in M\). The author defines such two maps to be \(f\)-weak compatible. Suppose that \(T(X) \subseteq f(X)\), \(T\) and \(f\) are continuous and satisfy the following inequality: \[ H(Tx,Ty) \leq h \max \biggl \{d(fx, fy), d(fx, Tx), d(fy,Ty), \bigl[ d(fx,Ty) + d(fy,Tx) \bigr]/2 \biggr\} \] for all \(x,y \in X\), where \(0 \leq h < 1\). Under the above hypothesis, the author proves in Theorem 2 that \(fz \in Tz\) for some point \(z \in X\), so generalizing a result of \textit{H. Kaneko} and the reviewer [Int. J. Math. Math. Sci. 12, No. 2, 257-262 (1989; Zbl 0671.54023)]. A similar result is given in Theorem 4 for two single-valued maps.
