    The paper is concerned with the so-called weighted (0,2)-interpolation problem: Suppose that \(n\) is a fixed natural number. Find a polynomial \(P\) of lowest possible degree satisfying the conditions \[ P(x_ k)= y_ k,\quad (wP)'' (x_ k)= z_ k,\qquad k= 1,\dots, n,\leqno{(*)} \] where \(-\infty\leq a< x_ 1<\cdots< x_ n< b\leq +\infty\) are given points, \(w\in C_ 2(a, b)\) denotes a weight function, and \(y_ k\), \(z_ k\), \(k= 1,\dots, n\) are arbitrarily given real numbers. In the paper the case is discussed, where the points \(x_ 1,\dots, x_ n\) are the roots of the Jacobi polynomial \(P^{(\alpha, \beta)}_ n\) and the weight function is \[ w(x)= (1- x)^{(\alpha+ 1)/2}(1+ x)^{(\beta+ 1)/2},\qquad x\in [- 1,1], \] assuming that \(\alpha, \beta> -1\). Sufficient conditions for the existence (and uniqueness) of a solution of the problem \((*)\) are derived. Moreover, under suitable assumptions the (uniquely determined) solution of the problem \((*)\) is constructed explicitly. Finally, in the case \(y_ k= f(x_ k)\), \(k= 1,\dots, n\), with a continuously differentiable function \(f: [- 1, 1]\to \mathbb{R}\), the absolute value of the difference \(| f(x)- P(x)|\) is estimated.
