Curves of genus 2 with a rational torsion divisor of order 23 (Q1805029)

The main result of this paper is that there exists a curve of genus 2 defined over \(\mathbb Q(t)\) with a rational torsion divisor of order 23. As a corollary, the author shows that there exist infinitely many curves of genus 2 over \(\mathbb Q\) with a rational torsion divisor of order 23. This complements work of \textit{E. V. Flynn} [J. Number Theory 36, No. 3, 257--265 (1990; Zbl 0757.14025)] and \textit{F. Leprévost} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I 313, No. 7, 451--454 (1991; Zbl 0758.14016), 313, No. 11, 771--774 (1991; Zbl 0758.14017)], who proved similar results for other orders.
