This paper is a survey of recent (post 1960) developments in the theory of vector-valued functions. The principal sections deal with vector-valued holomorphic functions, vector-valued real analysis, differential and integral equations, Markov processes, and optimization theory. The bibliography contains 50 entries, the majority of which are dated later than 1980. In a typical section, the material on vector-valued holomorphic functions discusses functions defined on a subdomain of the complex plane into a Banach space, and includes subsections on the notions of normal families, elliptic functions, radial limits, vector-valued Hardy spaces, harmonic functions, automorphic functions, Cauchy principal value integrals, all defined in the paper. No proofs are given. The reader easily develops an idea of the extensive literature on this subject.
