In 1950 \textit{R. C. James} [Ann. Math., II. Ser. 52, 518-527 (1950; Zbl 0039.12202)] defined a Banach space whose properties had important ramifications for understanding the structure of Banach spaces. This paper proves some structure properties for such James-type spaces. A necessary and sufficient condition is found for the existence of a unique minimal projection of the space onto its intersection with \(c_0\).
