The paper deals with granular flows by assuming that the velocity field consists of a steady translational flow superimposed by ordered wave fluctuations or by random or turbulent fluctuations giving rise to microscopic granular temperature. In some cases the ordered wave component may exhibit instability which is shown to reduce significantly the friction resistance. By this way, a more efficient transport can be achieved. The validity of the developed theory is validated by numerical simulations.
