On the validity of the conjugate pairing rule for Lyapunov exponents (Q1806373)

The paper is primarily addressed to physicists and comprises three parts: Statistical mechanical, numerical and mathematical, all devoted to selected topics in the developing interaction between the theory of dynamical systems and statistical mechanics of dissipative systems. One of the main results is the numerical proof of the absence of the so-called strong conjugate pairing rule for a one particle Lorentz gas. On the other hand, the conjugate pairing rule hypothesis has received a convincing numerical support in case of many particle Lorentz gases.
