The paper deals with the dynamics of a nonlocal scalar reaction-diffusion equation of the form \[ u_t=d^2u_{xx} +f(u)+\gamma \int^1_0g(x,s) u(s) ds, \quad u_x(0,t)= u_x(1,t)=0. \tag{1} \] For \(\gamma=0\) the nonlocal equation (1) corresponds to the so-called Chafee-Infante problem, with \(f(u)= u-u^3\), for which dynamics are well understood. The authors show that although the gradient structure is preserved, the dynamics can differ from the Chafee-Infante equation in several interesting ways.
