A nearlattice \(S\) is a meet semilattice with the property that any two elements with a common upper bound have a supremum. A multiplier on a nearlattice \(S\) is a mapping \(\sigma:S\to S\) satisfying the equation \(\sigma(x\wedge y)= \sigma(x)\wedge y\) for each \(x,y\in S\). The authors use the following notation: \(M(S)\) denotes the set of all multipliers on \(S\); \(B_\omega\) denotes the class of all pseudo-complemented distributive lattices; \(B_{-1}\) consists of all one element algebras; \(B_0\) is the variety of Boolean algebras; and \(B_n\), for \(1\leq n< \omega\), consists of all algebras satisfying the equation \[ (x_1\wedge x_2\wedge \cdots \wedge x_n)^*\vee \bigvee_{i=1}^n (x_1\wedge \cdots \wedge x_{i-1} \wedge x_i^*\wedge x_{i+1}\wedge \cdots \wedge x_n)^*= 1, \] where \(x^*\) denotes the pseudo-complement of \(x\). A distributive nearlattice \(S\) with 0 is sectionally pseudo-complemented if each interval \([0,x]\), for \(x\in S\), is pseudo-complemented. Moreover, \(S\) is sectionally in \(B_n\), \(-1\leq n\leq\omega\), if each interval \([0,x]\), for \(x\in S\), is in \(B_n\). The authors prove that a distributive nearlattice \(S\) with 0 is sectionally in \(B_n\), \(-1\leq n\leq \omega\), if and only if \(M(S)\) is in \(B_n\). Moreover, they show that for \(1\leq n<\omega\), these two conditions are equivalent to the condition that \(S\) is sectionally pseudo-complemented and \(P_1\vee \cdots \vee P_{n+1}= S\) for any \(n+1\) distinct minimal prime ideals \(P_1,\dots, P_{n+1}\).
