In the existing general-purpose computers, the basic operations are usually elementary arithmetic operations; everything else is designed from them. It is therefore desirable to design a computer in whose hardware supported components more complicated operations can be performed. In this paper, the authors design such architecture and show how this architecture can be used to compute the fast Fourier transform, and drastically speed up the computation of interval error estimation of the result of signal processing.
