The phenomenon of coagulation-fragmentation has recently aroused a growing interest, especially from the stochastic microscopic point of view. In the work under review, a pure-jump Markov process is associated with the concentration equation: it can be seen as the moving mass of a typical particle. The authors show existence of the solution even though the total rate of fragmentation is allowed to be infinite. The appearance of zero mass particles is investigated and also the converse situation when all particles at initial time have zero mass.
