A Haefliger style description of the embedding calculus tower. (Q1811539)

The authors develop an approximation to the full homotopy type of a space of embeddings of a smooth manifold \(M\) into a smooth manifold \(N\) as a homotopy limit of a tower defined from the cofunctor that to an open set \(V \subset M\) associates the space of embeddings from \(V\) to \(M\). The partial approximation obtained by the space at the bottom of the tower is due to \textit{A. Haefliger} [Comment. Math. Helv. 37, 155--167 (1962; Zbl 0186.27302)].
