This paper presents extensions of results of Rakhmanov and Mhaskar and Saff on the set where a weighted polynomial \(w^n P_n\) attains its maximum modulus. The result of \textit{H. N. Mhaskar} and \textit{E. B. Saff} [Constructive Approximation 1, 71--91 (1985; Zbl 0582.41009)] says that, under appropriate conditions on \(w\), the maximum modulus is attained on the support of the equilibrium measure associated with \(w\). The author gives conditions that guarantee that the maximum modulus is attained on the support of the equilibrium measure only. This is a generalization of a result of Lorentz et al. for the case of a continuous weight \(w\) on a finite union of disjoint real intervals.
