This paper deals with the boundary value problem \[ y''(x)=- g(x) x^p y^q(x),\quad y(0)= y(1)= 0, \] where \(p> -2\), \(q<-1\) and \(g\) is a positive and continuous function on \([0,1]\). A numerical method (for the approximation of this problem based on its linearization) gives upper and lower solutions for the considered problems, where a finite difference scheme to discretize of the linear problems is used. The authors define iterative methods and analyse the asymptotic behaviour of the iterates near the singularities. Some numerical examples are presented.
