On polynomials with largest coefficient sums (Q1812577)

Denote by \(F_ j\) the linear functionals on the space of real polynomials of degree at most \(n\) which assign to every polynomial the sum of its first \(j+1\) coefficients. In the present paper the author investigates the extremal points of these functionals, that is, those polynomials for which the functionals attain their norm. It turns out that the extremal polynomials have the usual oscillation properties. In addition, the author discusses the uniqueness of extremal polynomials and practical methods of computing the norms of \(F_ j\).
