Using results of \textit{N. G. Meyers} [Ann. Sc. Norm. Super. Pisa, Cl. Sci, III. Ser. 17, 189--206 (1963; Zbl 0127.31904)] the authors derive an \(L^ p\)-theory for second order elliptic operators not in divergence form. The leading coefficients are not assumed to be continuous, but to be in \(W^{1,n}\). Then the usual \(L^p\)-estimates hold true for \(p\) in a neighbourhood of 2.
