The author considers a second-order quasilinear elliptic equation which generalizes the mean curvature equation. Given \(u\in C^ 3(\Omega)\) a solution of this equation in the bounded domain \(\Omega\), and \(\Omega'\) an interior domain, an a priori bound is established for \(\sup_{\Omega'}| u_ x|\) depending only upon \(\sup_{\overline\Omega}| u|\), \(\text{dist}(\Omega',\partial\Omega)\) and the various structural constants of the equation under consideration. The proof relies on an idea due to N. J. Korevaar and involves a truncation function which in turn is defined using the solution of the equation itself.
