Investigations of the Birkhoff interpolation based on the roots of unity were carried out by several authors: O. Kiss, A. Sharma, A. S. Cavaretta, S. Varga and S. D. Riemenschneider. The mean convergence of the Lagrange interpolation, in the \(L_ p\)-norm, using the roots of unity, was first proved by \textit{S. M. Lozinski} [Mat. Sb., Nov. Ser. 8, 57-67 (1940; Zbl 0023.31101)]. The problem of the mean convergence of Birkhoff interpolation on the roots of unity, in a general case, was considered by \textit{P. Turán} [J. Approximation Theory 29, 23-89 (1980; Zbl 0454.41001)]. In this paper the author studies the mean convergence of the Birkhoff interpolation, in the general case, extending the result of Lozinski to all possible Birkhoff interpolation based on the roots of unity. A special case of this Turán generalized problem was considered earlier by \textit{J. Szabados} and \textit{A. K. Varma} [J. Approximation Theory 47, 255-264 (1986; Zbl 0598.41003)].
