The author considers the semigroup \(T(t)\) \((t\geq 0)\) generated by the number operator in the complex wave representation; i.e. \(T(t)\) is defined by \((T(t)f)(z)=f(e^ tz)\) \((z\in\mathbb{C}^ n)\) on the space \(HL_ p:=HL_ p(\mathbb{C}^ n,dg_ n)\) of entire functions with norm \(\| f\|_ p=\left(\int_{\mathbb{C}^ n}| f(z)|^ p dg_ n(z)\right)^{1/p}\), \(dg_ n(z)=\pi^{-n}e^{-| z|^ 2}| dz|\). The aim is to examine contractivity properties of \(T(t)\). For example, it is shown that \(T(t): HL_ r\to HL_ p\) is contractive if \(p\in[1,re^{2t}]\) and unbounded if \(p>re^{2t}\). Moreover, functions for which the norm is attained are determined.
