This paper treats the dynamics of phase transformations in elastic bars and investigation has been made for the entropy inequality at strain discontinuities and kinetic relation at phase boundaries. Mathematical theories are presented for illustration. No numerical examples are presented. As such this paper is of very much use to theoretical researches.
