Two variational principles for the static problem of a linearly elastic body are formulated. It is assumed that the body force field is a prescribed square integrable function. For the case when the stress vector is prescribed on the boundary, the problem has unique solution, and thus variational principles have unique extremals in suitably chosen Sobolev spaces. The author claims that the here formulated variational principles should be used in finite element formulation of the problem but no details about such application are given.
