The following theorem is proved. Let \(G\) be a locally finite group such that for each noncentral element \(x\in G\), \(C_ G(x)\) is a maximal subgroup of \(G\). Then \(G\) is of one of the following types (a) abelian, (b) \(G/Z\) is an elementary abelian \(p\)-group and \(| G'|=p\), (c) \(G/Z=A/Z\rtimes B/Z\) is a Frobenius group, \(A\) and \(B\) are abelian, \(B/Z\) has prime order and acts irreducibly on \(A/Z\).
