The Bäcklund transformation and integrable initial boundary value problems (Q1814579)

The inverse scattering method is known to be a method for solving a Cauchy problem for nonlinear equations of mathematical physics. Applying the method to initial boundary value problems was until recently paid little attention. At present, looking for boundary conditions compatible with the exact integrability property of the equations is an actual problem. This problem is considered in the paper. Adjoining a Bäcklund transform with the aid of a reflection type symmetry some classes of such boundary conditions are obtained.
