In a series of earlier papers, the first author described a nonlinear continuum theory based on rational mechanics and experiments in which the interval constraint trace of the left Cauchy-Green stretch tensor was equal to 3 at finite plastic straints. In this continuum theory the measured rigid body rotation at finite plastic strains was very small, the simple shear was inadmissible, and the predicted significant decrease in volume with increasing plastic strains agreed with experiment. In the present paper, the symmetry, coaxiality, and commutation of the left Cauchy-Green stretch tensor with the Bell stress tensor are extended to more general theory and experiments, namely from proportional to non-proportional loading paths.
