We define Mahlon M. Day points \(D_1 (J)\) of the zero set \(Z(J)\) of an ideal \(J\) of \(A= A(G)\) and show that \(\mathbb{P}= (A/ J)^*\) is extremely nonergodic at each \(x\in D_1 (J)\) (namely \(\mathbb{P}/ W_\mathbb{P} (x)\) has the nonseparable \(\ell^\infty\) as a quotient and \(TIM_\mathbb{P} (x)\) contains \({\mathcal F}\)). Hence, if \(G\) is second countable and \(D_1 (J)\neq \emptyset\), \(A/J\) is an extremely non-Arens regular Banach algebra. We further determine subsets of \(D_1 (J)\) in case (i) \(F\) contains translates of ultrathin symmetric subsets of \(R\) or \(T\) or in case (ii) \(\text{int}_{aHb} F\neq \emptyset\) for some nondiscrete closed subgroup \(H\) of \(G\), even if \(A= A_p (G)\) à la \textit{C. Herz} [Ann. Inst. Fourier 23, 91-123 (1973; Zbl 0265.43010)]. We then apply the results to abelian \(G\) and get results which are new even if \(G= R\) or \(T\).
