Let \(M\) be a compact connected hypersurface in the Euclidean 4-space. The author proves the following results. (1) If the mean curvature is nowhere zero and the scalar curvature \(S\) satisfies \(|\psi|^2S=6\), then \(M\) is isometric to a hypersphere, where \(\psi\) is the position vector field of the hypersurface. (2) If the Ricci curvature of the hypersurface satisfies \(0<\text{Ric}\leq \frac{2}{3} \lambda_1\) then \(M\) is isometric to a hypersphere, where \(\lambda_1\) is the first nonzero eigenvalue of the Laplacian.
