Semilinear periodic-parabolic equations with nonlinear boundary conditions (Q1815654)

The author establishes existence results for periodic parabolic problems with nonlinear boundary conditions provided ordered lower and upper solutions are given. The approach is new, and the proofs are based on a priori estimates for parabolic problems with quadratic growth in \(\nabla u\) and Leray-Schauder degree arguments. There are also deduced interpolation inequalities of Ehrling-Gagliardo-Nirenberg or Lions-Peetre-Calderon type with respect to the norm of functions in Sobolev-Slobodeckii spaces. It is also taken into account a more general concept of upper and lower solutions, and it is indicated how one can derive minimal and maximal solutions to the considered problem from the existence results proved in the paper.
