Extending their previous results [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 148, No. 1, 63-78 (1990; Zbl 0725.34006)], the authors prove the existence of a certain number of linearly independent solutions \((y_1(\cdot), y_2(\cdot))\) of differential systems of the form: \(y'_1= A_1(t)\cdot y_1+b_1(t)\), \(t\in I_1:=(a,c]\), \(y'_2=A_2(t)\cdot y_2+b_2(t)\), \(t\in I_2:=[c,b)\), that satisfy interface-spatial conditions of the form: \(Ay_1(c)- By_2(c)\in N\) and, possibly, one of the initial conditions: \(y_1(t_1)=\overline{c}\in C^n\) \((t_1\in I_1)\), \(y_2(t_2)= \overline{d}\in C^m\) \((t_2\in I_2)\) where \(A\) and \(B\) are appropriate matrices with the same range and \(N\subseteq R(A)= R(B)\) is a given subspace. The results are then applied to some physical examples such as acoustic waveguides in ocean, optical fiber transmission and one-dimensional scattering in quantum theory.
