The finite element equations for a planar Hall region are derived directly from the condition of current conservation over volumes surrounding each point of a triangular mesh. The law of current conservation leads to a set of linear equations that relate the potential of each mesh point to the value at neighboring points and the local injection current. Implementation of the method in a computer code is presented.
