For a fixed \(\lambda\in \mathbb{R}^d\) denote by \(e_\lambda\) the character of the additive group \(\mathbb{R}^d\) corresponding to \(\lambda\), i.e. \(e_\lambda(x)= \exp(i2\pi\lambda x)\) for \(x\in \mathbb{R}^d\). From the author's introduction: ``Let \((\Omega,\Lambda)\) be a pair of subsets of \(\mathbb{R}^d\) such that \(\Omega\) has finite positive Lebesgue measure \({\mathcal L}(\Omega)\). The pair is called a spectral pair if the functions \(e_\lambda\), \(\lambda\in \Lambda\), form an orthogonal basis for \({\mathcal L}^2(\Omega)\) and \(\Lambda\) is called a spectrum for \(\Omega[\dots]\). In this paper, we study the geometry of spectral sets that admit a lattice with a base as a spectrum. Recall, a lattice with a base is a set of the form \(L+S\), where \(L\) is a finite set and \(S\) is a lattice.'' A history of the problem is presented and three interesting theorems are proved. The question for general LCA-groups also is considered.
